source to verify continuing adherence to District requirements.
A Notice of Violation (NOV) is written when non-compliance is found. Although
the District strongly believes that education is the better way
to foster compliance, repeat offenders can incur stiff penalties.
is the first stop for a new business. This
is where they apply for an air quality permit and work with the
engineer who determines the District conditions under which the
business can operate.
staff operates and maintains nine air monitoring
stations within our 20,000+ mile jurisdiction. These stations
are located in Apple Valley, Barstow, Hesperia, Lucerne Valley,
Phelan, Trona, 29 Palms and Victorville. Pollutants monitored
include Ozone, Nitrogen Dioxide, Hydrogen Dioxide, and PM-10 and
PM-2.5. The data complied is forwarded to the California Air
Resources Board to b used in determining District progress in achieving
cleaner air.
is the District support staff, handling the
financial aspects of our operation. Our state-of-the-art billing
and permitting computer system has simplified permit renewals and
is maintained by this section.
(CRE) is the office of the District which provides community outreach,
media relations and public educational services. Speakers
on air quality topics are available to schools, public groups, government
organizations and business associations. CRE staff also represent
the District at local conferences and community events which promote
the District's environmental and business friendly philosophies. |
