CDAWG becomes SWAG!

Official Agenda (Draft)Sponsorship Opportunities | Registration Form

For more than 35 years, the Mojave Desert AQMD's annual conference has been known as the California Desert Air Working Group (CDAWG) conference.

In 2025, that changes. CDAWG has officially become the South Western Air Group, or SWAG.

"With the continued growth of our conference, especially over the last 10 years, we felt it was time that the name of this event should represent all that we cover in each session," said Brad Poiriez, MDAQMD Executive Director and Air Pollution Control Officer. "This has truly become bigger than the California desert air districts our conference originally included, and every year we continue to expand our reach and our audience."Logo for 2025 South Western Air Group (SWAG) conference over Phoenix skyline

Arizona is calling!

Along with the new name and branding, the SWAG Conference will move to a new location. For the first time, the annual event is planned for Phoenix on Nov. 5 and 6 at the Hilton Phoenix Airport.

"We're excited to welcome back the many attendees who join us every year, and to meet new faces joining us for the first time," Poiriez said.

The SWAG Conference provides a dynamic forum for exchange of information sharing on timely, relevant air quality and regulatory issues facing today's environmental landscape across the southwestern United States. Whether you're an environmental professional or simply interested in quality professional development, SWAG has something for everyone.

As has long been the case with this conference, all proceeds from SWAG go to support the Mojave Environmental Education Consortium (MEEC), a 501(c)(3). MEEC’s mission is to train teachers and develop standards-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and environmental education resources for the classroom, tailored to Mojave Desert communities.
